Description

Description

The Spring Creek Stormwater Management Project - Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan will improve the City’s stormwater infrastructure within the Original Spring Creek Alignment (OSCA) to protect homes, reduce flooding, and support future housing development. The project includes planning and capital construction to upgrade 2.2 kilometres of the alignment, which carries stormwater from the Spring Creek Diversion Dike to the Moose Jaw River. Work will include replacing and realigning aging pipes and culverts, improving open drainage channels, stabilizing slopes, and upgrading roads, curbs, and sidewalks affected by drainage improvements. Certain stormwater lines will be rerouted away from private properties to free up land for new housing. These upgrades will increase system capacity during heavy rain and snowmelt, reduce flooding, and improve water quality in local ponds and parks, including Serpentine Pond and Crescent Park. The project will serve 14,719 existing homes and enable 5,370 additional units, supporting Moose Jaw’s target population of 45,000 residents. The result will be safer neighbourhoods, stronger infrastructure, and a more resilient community prepared for future growth and changing climate conditions.
