City of Newburgh North Interception Sewer Improvement Project

The project increased the capacity of the city’s nearly two-mile north interceptor sewer, improved the collection and treatment of wet-weather flows, and advanced the city’s federally approved long term sewer system control plan to reduce combined sewer overflows into the Hudson River. It included the installation of approximately 8,600 linear feet of new interceptor sewer through the city’s riverfront and historic districts using a micro-tunneling technique to reduce disruptions and expedite restoration.
