Description

Description

This project will install self securement systems for mobility devices on a minimum of 66 buses. All conventional transit buses are equipped with securement stations to transport customers in mobility devices. Traditional securement stations require a bus operator to help secure a customer in the bus by physically touching and attaching securement straps to the customers mobility device. This method although effective does not promote safe physical distancing, and puts both the driver and rider at risk. There have been advancements in technology that allow a passenger to be secured with no physical interaction by the operator. This not only allows for safe physical distancing to help prevent the spread of COVID, but allows those with low mobility a greater sense of freedom in mobility. Any new bus purchases would have this securement system installed from the factory.
