Description
Description | The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system will help Saskatoon Transit accommodate the city’s expected growth while making transit a more attractive option for all. BRT is a premium transportation system designed to improve capacity and reliability comparted to conventional bus systems. It allows for more people to move more efficiently through optimized routes and dedicated travel lanes, while retaining the low-cost and flexibility of buses. The Blue Line BRT corridor runs approximately 16 km flowing North- South through Preston Ave, 8th Street E, Broadway Ave, 19th Street E, 1st Avenue N, 25th Street, Idylwyld Dr, 33rd Street, Warman Rd, Primrose Dr. Roadway, pathway, curb, intersection, drainage, and public realm improvements are required to create the Blue Line BRT transit corridor. A fiber optic network will allow for a new intelligent transportation system and transit signal priority along corridors. New stations along route will also be built. |
