Description
Description | The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system will help Saskatoon Transit accommodate the city’s expected growth while making transit a more attractive option for all. BRT is a premium transportation system designed to improve capacity and reliability compared to conventional bus systems. It allows for more people to move more efficiently through optimized routes and dedicated travel lanes, while retaining the low-cost and flexibility of buses. The Green Line BRT corridor runs approximately 15 km flowing East- West through Attridge Dr., Preston Ave, College Dr, 1st Avenue N, and 22nd Street. The scope of work for the project includes construction of approximately 16 stations with tactile strips, shelters with heating and lights, security cameras, next bus information displays, and benches. Roadway, pathway, curb, intersection, drainage, and public realm improvements are required to create the Green Line BRT transit corridor at various locations along the line. A fibre optic network will allow for a new intelligent transportation system and transit signal priority along corridors this includes the installation or upgrading of traffic signals, traffic signal controllers at approximately 14 intersections and the implementation of a software solution to allow traffic signal operations software to communicate with transit management software. |
