Description

Description

The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system will help Saskatoon Transit accommodate the city’s expected growth while making transit a more attractive option for all. BRT is a premium transportation system designed to improve capacity and reliability compared to conventional bus systems. It allows for more people to move more efficiently through optimized routes and dedicated travel lanes, while retaining the low-cost and flexibility of buses. The Red Line BRT transit corridor runs approximately 18km flowing East-West through 8th Street E., Preston Ave, College Dr, 1st Avenue N, and 22nd Street. Roadway, pathway, curb, intersection, drainage, and public realm improvements are required to create the Red Line BRT transit corridor. A fiber optic network will allow for a new intelligent transportation system and transit signal priority along the corridor. New stations along route will also be built.
