Description | The Project scope includes new, expanded and rehabilitated indoor and outdoor facilities at the existing Gordie Howe Sports Complex including: a new Multi-Sport Complex - an approximately 20,000 square-foot facility, containing locker rooms with washroom and shower facilities, indoor seating to support recreational activities, meeting space, timing and press boxes for multiple sports, and permanent outdoor seating for the existing baseball field (approximately 1850 seats); a new outdoor baseball/softball training and practice complex with two full-size artificial turf in-fields, energy efficient LED field lighting, two pitching cages and batting lanes, permanent bench seating for players, coaches, and spectators, and complete perimeter fencing around each field; a new multi-sport outdoor artificial turf field (85 yard by 160 yard) including bleacher seating (approximately 400 seats), scoreboard, sound system, energy efficient LED lighting and perimeter fencing; a new ticket booth facility to support multi-sports, a timing and storage facility for cross country skiing, energy efficient lighting along cross country instructional ski trails, permanent outdoor bleacher seating at Cairns baseball field (approximately 2000 seats), new energy efficient lighting and scoreboard for Leakos field and Geoff Hughes Baseball Park; landscaping including new accessible pathways that will interconnect facilities inside the complex and support trail walking and cycling, energy efficient LED pathway lighting, way-finding signage, improved drainage throughout site, and grass, shrub and tree planting throughout 65 acre site; and improvements to existing parking lots including new way-finding and directional signage, energy efficient parking lot LED lighting, expansion and development of new parking areas to support the new facilities, and expanded accessible parking and asphalting of some parking areas. The Project will result in new, upgraded and integrated sports fields. |
