"Ciuitates et urbes Europæ (Cities and towns in Europe): CivEUr Chair project aims to highlight the lessons and research already in place in the various components of the University Paris Nanterre, in order to deepen the field of European studies around the history of the European city. The past: genesis, training and urban environment; the present: European legal and normative framework, as well as scientific heritage protection practices such as urban archaeology; and the future, the urban project, development, urban planning and regeneration, local development, and the trades that derive from it. The gradual specialization of disciplines from the 1970s has diverge the conceptions of the scholars who treat the contemporary city and the historic city. The project aims to be a teaching experiment and a gathering of disciplines around the city. The renewal of the methods without separating the analysis and the practice, the knowledge and the application, the face-to-face training and the initial training, or the distance learning with diffusion of podcasts and documents on the website, want to favour in the long term a perpetuation of an Academic Training. This phase will make it possible to specify the outline of the training and the professional sectors interested in the creation of a new diploma where the European city will be at the centre of formal background on the knowledge and the professionalization of the scientific practices of the urban project. CivEUr wants to be a discussion forum that federates and integrates colleagues working on the city within the University Paris Nanterre and open this forum to other colleagues from European universities through the taveling seminar ""Europe of Cities"" and the international symposiums."
