Description

Description

This 100-MW project is located on the site of the former US Clark Air base. The air base is being converted to commercial use by the Philippine government-owned Clark Development Corporation. The air base will be converted to a light industrial zone. Clark Development Corp. has taken a 25% equity stake in the project, and Polar Energy has taken a 75% equity stake. The project was scheduled for 24 months of construction, and was expected to become operational in June 1999. The plant will be fired by Bunker-C diesel fuel. Electricity will be sold to Clark Development Corporation. The plant will be used primarily to provide power to the 170+ companies located in the Clark air base tax-free light industrial zone. Power generated by the plant will be distributed to firms in the Clark Special Economic Zone by Meralco Engineering Services. The Clark Special Economic Zone is 10,868 acres; the plant will also serve surrounding areas. Previously, the zone was served only by a 50-MW plant. None None
