Class 4 Septic System Replacements (tank and field) for 5 homes

Animakee Wa Zhing First Nation will conduct the replacement and installation of 5 new individual class 4 septic systems (tank and field). There are 3 individual systems being replaced and there is also currently one system that services two homes which will be replaced with an individual system for each home. The systems have been in operation for approximately 35 years or more and have been assessed by the local Health Canada Environmental Health Officer. A report is on file recommending their replacement. The new systems will be installed by a licensed septic installer (under the Ministry of Housing Building Code Identification Number Program). The new systems will ensure proper treatment of wastewater from the homes and will reduce the chances of contamination in nearby receiving environments (Lake of the Woods) from failing fields or cracked tanks/pipes as indicated in the Health Canada reports. The new systems will also prevent backups of raw sewage back into the homes from failing components ensuring the health and safety of the occupants .
