Description
Description | Big Grassy First Nation will replace 8 individual class 4 septic systems (tank and field) which have exceeded their design life and are showing signs of breakdown. The systems have currently been in operation for 36 years (installed in 1980). The new systems will be installed by a licensed septic installer (under the Ministry of Housing Building Code Identification Number Program). The new systems will ensure proper treatment of waste from the homes and will reduce the chances of contamination in nearby receiving environments from failing fields or cracked tanks/pipes. The new systems will also prevent backups of raw sewage back into the homes from failing components ensuring the health and safety of the occupants. Improved health of people will have off-reserve benefits of reducing pressure on the provincial health care system. |
