Description

Description

The project Clay-play is aimed at preserving, fostering and developing cultural identity, traditions, art and ethnic values in the region of North Banat, especially the wider region of the town Kikinda in Serbia, and the town of Mako, Hungary. The project itself is a promotion of common and mutual values and traditions, a celebration of good faith between neighbors and one of the first steps in connecting the whole region with its natural surrounding. The project encompasses children the live in the border region, that are young enough not to be aware of the stereotypes concerning the issues of race and nation, whose main and only interest in life is playing carelessly with other children, children that can ignore language barriers using the universal language of imagination. This project also includes the teachers of the kindergarten institutions from which these children come from. With a children’s painting competition that will launched on both sides of the border we will involve a great number of participants who will have the chance to demonstrate their impression of the notion of mutual cultural heritage through an art work of small format. An exhibition of art works in clay done on the workshop in the “TERRA” Centre in Kikinda by 25 of the most talented children of both regions will be displayed at suitable venues in both towns. A small part of all the art works done by children through this project will be preserved by means of a “Time capsule” that will have its own visual identity in accordance with the project and which, once closed, will be locked from 5 to 10 years and will hold the messages, paintings and art works done through this project.
