Description

Description

The Government of Western Australia has established a AUD 1.4 billion Clean Energy Fund to accelerate renewable energy development and strengthen the state's electricity network. The fund supports major infrastructure projects under the Clean Energy Link (CEL) program, including CEL – East, CEL – North, and CEL – Kwinana. CEL – East will extend the South West Interconnected System to connect new wind and solar generation east of Collie, powering about 1 million homes. CEL – North is under construction to improve access to renewables between Malaga and Three Springs. CEL – Kwinana will add transmission capacity and new terminals to support 900 MW of new energy demand in the Western Trade Coast. Together, CEL – North and CEL – East are expected to deliver 3 GW of renewable energy and create about 800 jobs during construction. The projects are declared priority under the State Development Act 2025 to streamline approvals and improve coordination.
