The joint cross-border project of Zalewo Commune and Bagrationovsky Urban District certainly has added value in terms of environmental protection. The planned activities will reduce the amount of pollution which directly and indirectly reaches the Vistula Lagoon and will allow to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of the cross-border area covered by the project at the same time. The main aim of the project is to increase the number of households that will be connected to the modern sewage system and supplied with the good-quality of water through the renovated water supply system. What is important in terms of nature protection, the construction of the sewage system will eliminate small cesspools, which will contribute to the purity of groundwater. One the Polish side, a sanitary sewage system will be constructed in the Zalewo Commune with the total length of 14,4 km together with the repairment of a water-supply system with the total length of 0,5 km. Russian partner will develop 12 sets of technical documentation, which will allow to provide in the future modernised sewage systems for 8,174 inhabitants of Bagrationovsky Urban District and improve the environmental situation.
