Description

Description

Due to unsustainable management and climate change, a large proportion of the forests in the state of Himachal Pradesh are affected by degradation and species loss. The aim of the project is the rehabilitation, protection and sustainable use of selected forest areas to increase and ensure the resilience of the forests, their biodiversity and the population groups that live from their products and services to climate change. Planned project measures include in particular the introduction of participatory, sustainable and climate-adapted forest management, investment measures to improve the resilience of the forest ecosystem, such as the removal of invasive plants, reforestation of degraded areas and the development and introduction of instruments to improve the action capacity of the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department (HPFD, project sponsor). The main target group is the rural population in the project areas, who depend on the preservation of natural resources.
