Description

Description

The idea of establishing the Climate Finance Partnership (CFP) arose at the One Planet Summit 2018 under the leadership of French President Emmanuel Macron. It brings together the German and French governments, four world-leading foundations, among others, and Black Rock - the world's largest asset manager - in a joint partnership. The aim of the CFP is to demonstrate the potential of blended finance, which aims to mobilize at least four times the amount of private capital for climate investments in emerging markets by providing public funds. The fund is intended to help achieve the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and, in particular, to exploit the economic opportunities associated with the transition to a low-carbon global economy. The CFP's investments are made worldwide in emerging and developing countries in Southeast Asia, Latin America and Africa. The investment focus is on climate infrastructure, in particular electricity generation from renewable energies. The fund aims to advance the United Nations' sustainable development goals, in particular SDG 7 (clean energy) and SDG 13 (climate protection).
