The aim is to fundamentally and sustainably improve wastewater disposal and rainwater management in the Pristina region so that the local population - around a quarter of the country's total population - benefits from efficient and better quality disposal services. It also supports the convergence with EU environmental standards and helps protect scarce water resources. An important secondary objective is adaptability to climate change (KLA1). The module is one of three components to be implemented as part of the Kosovo Wastewater Program. Other components are the construction of collectors to the wastewater treatment plant sites (including any necessary pumping stations), as well as the construction of wastewater treatment plants for the city of Pristina (parallel financing through a French export credit, Kosovo's own contributions and, if necessary, AFD loans and WBIF grants).
