The proposed additional financing of $200 million is to scale up the scope of the ongoing project to other locations in two of the four river reaches and the two remaining reaches to contribute further to the broader stabilization of the Brahmaputra River in Assam. The additional scope is strongly linked to the ongoing project's scope and will be efficiently implemented underthe same implementation arrangements. The overall project scope aligns with Assam's water and disaster policies, an action plan on climate change,5 and ADB country partnership strategy forIndia, 20232027, especially strategic pillar 2 which includes flood protection and riverbankerosion management that will stabilize rivers and navigation channels and reclaim lost floodplainsland.
