Description

Description

In order to achieve the set NDCs, which are essential to meet the Paris climate goals, effective measures must be taken in the project's target regions, South Asia and Southeast Asia, to transform into a lower-carbon economy in order to limit negative impacts on climate change. The aim of the FC measure is to support countries in the target regions in achieving their NDCs. This is to be done by financing companies with transformative capabilities in terms of greenhouse gas avoidance. The project thus addresses sustainable development goals 7 (ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all) and 13 (taking immediate action to combat climate change and its impacts). The main measure of the project is the federal government's entry into a trust participation in the first loss tranche of a fund that is yet to be established. This should enable a significant mobilization of private capital. The fund in turn uses the capital paid in by all investors to provide financing to companies in the target regions. The fund plans to invest in companies along the entire value chain within various sectors with high climate relevance, i.e. probably in players in the following segments (1) renewable energies and their value chain (including storage solutions); (2) electromobility and its value chain; (3) energy efficiency and its value chain and (4) other providers of climate protection technologies and solutions that can demonstrate a quantifiable CO2 reduction.
