Description

In January 2001, China Light and Power (CLP) and Beijing Guohua, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the state-owned Shenhua Group formed a joint stock company (JSC), CLP Guohua Power Co., Ltd (CLP Guohua). CLP Guohua was 49% owned by CLP and 51% owned by Beijing Guohua whose ownership was transferred to its parent company China Henhua Energy Co., Ltd. (Shenhua Energy) after the latter’s listing in Hong Kong. Shenhua Energy was an investment arm of the State Council, and owned, developed, and operated Shenfu Dongshen coalfield, one of the eight largest coalfields in the world. The deal included three coal-fired power stations for a total generating capacity of 2100 MW. They are Beijing Guohua Power Station (2x200 MW), Hebei Sanhe Power Station (2x350 MW) and Tianjin Panshan Power Station (2x500 MW). The CLP Guohua owned 100%, 55% and 50% of each of the stations, respectively. Cost of the CLP Guohua was approximately USD107m (RMB888m). None None
