CLUB ZERO is the highly anticipated film by Jessica Hausner, which will premiere in this year's Cannes (Competition). It is in English language, with a renowned cast including Mia Wasikowska and Sidse Babette Knudsen and rising star Amir El Nasry (THE CROWN). It is also a truly European film, a co-production between Austria, Germany, France, Denmark and the UK. In CLUB ZERO, Miss Novak (Mia Wasikowska) joins the staff of an international boarding school to teach a conscious eating class. She instructs that eating less is healthy. The other teachers are slow to notice what is happening and by the time the distracted parents begin to realise, Club Zero has become a reality. CLUB ZERO is Jessica Hausner most accessible film to date. The film tackles relevant and popular topics (parenthood, education, misinformation, faith and longing for guidance), whilst it is also infused with dark humour. Our distributors strongly believe in the potential of the film. As a result, CLUB ZERO was pre-sold across Europe (29 territories, including Austria and Ukraine) and the early cooperation between us and the distributors has enabled the sharing of materials, ideas, and coordinated release strategies (between October 2023 and February 2024). With our cost-effective and collaborative approach and with support from Creative Europe, we aim at building on the admissions from Jessica Hausner’s previous films and find new audiences for her work, as well as instilling confidence in our distributors to continue their relationship with Coproduction Office and Jessica Hausner.
