CMSA was established to develop and operate a container terminal in the Port of Manzanillo, State of Colima, located on the Mexican Pacific Coast. CMSA has a 34-year concession with APIMAN to operate the terminal. The terminal will be developed in 3 phases. IFC is expected to finance Phase 1 and Phase 2 (“the project”), which is in advanced stages of construction, commenced operations in 3Q2013, and is scheduled to be completed and fully operational by 1Q 2014 with an annual capacity of 500,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). Once finalized, the terminal facilities will have a draft of 16 meters, 720 meters of quay, 2 berths, 4 Super Post Panamax cranes and a 41.3 hectare container yard. Phases 2 and 3 are not expected to increase the project physical footprint.The Project is estimated to cost approximately US$ 555 million. IFC is considering an A loan of up to US$ 65 million for its own account. IFC will also mobilize B loans of approximately US$ 105 million needed to complete the financing plan.
