Description | The Shijiazhuang Urban Transport Project will foster the development of an efficient, and environmentally sustainable urban transport system in the city, and provide as well a wider set of commuting choices to its users. The components are: 1) strengthening the primary, and secondary road networks within the second ring, including construction of interchanges, and railway overpasses/underpasses; and, completion, and widening of existing roads; 2) provision of additional facilities for bicycle users, and pedestrians alike; application of modern traffic engineering techniques, mainly within the first ring road; application of road safety measures; and, provision of parking facilities; 3) establishment of computer systems to provide bus management information, including an improved bus-stop program. In addition, bus parking, and maintenance depots, and station terminals for railways, and buses will be constructed; 4) financing of road maintenance works, and equipment, including a road maintenance planning system. Engineering designs, local construction supervision, and administration will be financed by the municipal government; 5) development of environmental monitoring, noise abatement, and emissions control programs; and, 6) strengthening technical skills, agency management and coordination, through technical assistance, training, and consulting services. |
