Civic engagement (CO-DECISION) means participating in activities that aim to improve the quality of life in a community by dealing with social issues such as: homelessness, pollution, EU scepticism or food insecurity and developing the knowledge and skills needed to solve these problems. Civic engagement can cover a wide range of political and non-political actions, including voting, volunteering, creating of public policies, broadening the knowledge about EU membership and participating in group activities, such as communal gardens and food banks.This project concerns a special range of survey research and debate (during the conference and study visit) on civic involvement in small municipalities in areas of high importance at the EU level. The main objectives we want to focus on is promoting the participation of citizens and associations in the democratic and civic life of the EU and their contribution through the disclosure and public exchange of views in all areas relating to the activities of the Union. The aim of the project is also to answer the questions - at what level do citizens engage in civic policy and what tools and activities should be implemented to increase this involvement? The reasons for the low involvement of citizens are important, and it’ll allow for the preparation of proposals for corrective actions, first on small local communities, second – in other towns or region in EU which struggle with the same issues.
