Description | Coal India plans to establish coal-to-syngas production units either at mine pithead locations or adjacent to user industries such as fertiliser units, direct-reduced iron (DRI) plants, and gas-based power plants. The project aims to develop syngas hubs within available Coal India land to supply syngas to nearby industrial clusters, reducing logistics costs and ensuring economic supply through dedicated pipeline networks. The facilities will be developed on Build-Own-Operate (BOO) or Build-Operate-Maintain (BOM) basis by developers or consortia. The initiative supports the National Mission on Coal Gasification and aims to enhance domestic chemical and feedstock security amid disruptions in gas supplies due to geopolitical conflicts. |
