Description | The Coega Green Ammonia Project is a large-scale green hydrogen and green ammonia production facility located in the Coega Special Economic Zone, Nelson Mandela Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa. The project includes a plant with a production capacity of over one million tons of green ammonia per year, seawater abstraction, desalination and demineralisation plants, storage facilities with pipelines, a 1,430 MW solar PV cluster, and 1,879 MW of wind power in two clusters of wind farms. The project aims to produce and export green ammonia to the Far East and Europe, with exportation expected to begin in 2029 or 2030. |
