Description | South African developer Hive Hydrogen has selected Danish manufacturer Topsoe to supply 850MW of solid-oxide electrolysers (SOEs) for its $5.8bn Coega green hydrogen and ammonia project in South Africa. The project includes 1.5GW of wind energy and 1.43GW of solar, aiming to produce more than one million tonnes of ammonia a year, largely for export, with full operation expected in 2030. The environmental impact assessment has been completed, front-end engineering design is on track to commence in Q3 2026, and a final investment decision is due in Q3 2027. The project is still seeking investors and lenders. |
