Description | In March 1997, L&T Transportation Infrastructure Ltd (subsidiary of Indian company Larsen & Toubro) signed a 30 year concession contract for the construction and operation of a 33km bypass in the state of Tamil Nadu. The company agreed to complete construction in 24 months and to operate the bypass to recover the costs of construction. The government provides a minimum revenue guarantee and will extend the contract length in the case of a shortfall. The total project was expected to cost US$24 million. The sponsors reached financial closure on the first US$5.2 million in 1998. Financing includes a term loan from financial institutions and equity participation by L&T Transportation Infrastructure Ltd. The government sets tolls rates. None None |
