Description

Description

Through 5 regional projects, the Municipality of the County of Colchester is looking to build over 3km of active transportation infrastructure to create safe connected AT options in their region. The projects would be built between 2022 -2025 and would include an AT bridge crossing the Salmon River, which is a fundamental component to all AT networks in the Colchester region. Other components include completing gaps in sidewalk connectivity, and two multi-use pathways. The Project Scope includes: 1. AT Bridge: 130m long by 6m width, (includes 2x10m lead-ins) /steel and concrete/new build 2. Tidal Bore Multi-use trail: 700m long by 3m wide/asphalt/separated from road/new build 3. Hilden Sidewalk: 450m long by 1.5m wide/concrete/new build 4. Brookfield Sidewalk: 942m long by 1.5m wide/concrete /new build 5. Pictou Road Multi-use trail: 1100m long by 3m wide/asphalt/separated from road/new build. A section of retaining wall may be required under Highway #104 overpass to situate the MUP behind the support columns. While the final design has not yet been completed, the retaining wall would be approximately 75m in length, 2m high, be a new build, and constructed of precast concrete block.
