Economic/Social Impact of the Project Meghalaya is an agrarian state in Northeast India, where agriculture is the primary source of livelihood for the majority of the population. However, one of the major challenges faced by farmers in the state is the lack of proper cold storage and transportation facilities, which leads to post-harvest losses and reduces their income. Project Description: The proposed project aims to address this issue by setting up cold storage and transportation facilities for agricultural produce in Meghalaya. The project will have two components: Cold Storage Facilities: The project will set up cold storage facilities in different parts of the state to provide farmers with a place to store their products safely. These facilities will be equipped with modern refrigeration units and other necessary equipment to maintain the temperature and humidity levels required for different crops. The facilities will also have adequate space to store different types of products and will be accessible to farmers from nearby areas. Transportation Facilities: The project will also focus on improving transportation facilities for agricultural produce in the state. This will include setting up collection centers where farmers can bring their produce and load it onto vehicles that will transport it to markets and other destinations. The vehicles will be equipped with refrigeration units to ensure that the produce is transported at the right temperature.
