Description | This project involves the improvement of the existing telecommunication infrastructure and expansion of the mobile coverage of the Colombia Movil (Tigo) service in rural areas in Colombia. Project works include the transitioning from basic 3G to 4G LTE broadband and increasing the coverage in 915 rural areas across the country. Furthermore, this initiative will improve the digitalization process of small, rural and agricultural businesses in Caqueta, the Amazon region. The main shareholder of Colombia Movil S.A. (TIGO) is Millicom Spain. The total project cost is $47.5m (197.4 billion Colombian pesos), provided with a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
