Combating polio

The FC project aims to interrupt the transmission of the polio virus in Pakistan and thus contribute to the global eradication of poliomyelitis (polio). The FC measure consists of financing operational costs (implementation of community-based vaccination (CBV) and mobile teams), measures to strengthen surveillance and technical support for the eradication of polio within the framework of the National Emergency Plan for Pakistan (NEAP), which was developed with the support of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). The vaccination campaigns are intended to achieve continuous vaccination coverage among children under five years of age (target group), particularly children who have not yet been reached by vaccination measures, and to prevent new polio infections. The entire population of Pakistan and that of (neighbouring) countries into which polio could be imported from Pakistan will indirectly benefit from this.
