Description
Description | Construcciones Metalicas Mexicanas Comemsa Sa de CV (“Comemsa”), a Mexican subsidiary of Abengoa, is engaged in the designing and manufacturing of galvanized steel structures. Comemsa is implementing an expansion of its existing plant in Queretaro, Mexico to satisfy the increased demand of solar panel structures and transmission towers in the region. The Company plans to increase its existing production capacity from 30,000 tons to 50,000 tons of transmission towers and solar panel structures, each accounting for half of the additional capacity, by adding several production lines and an additional galvanization plant. The project consists of a $40 mn investment of which IFC is providing a $24 mn loan. The Company has already started its expansion and since the end of 2008 has invested about $5.0 million equivalent in the acquisition of equipment for high voltage transmission lines and for the manufacturing of solar panel structures. The project will expand its capacity within the existing manufacturing site, so no impacts associated with additional land acquisition are anticipated. |
