Description | Commonwealth Fusion Systems plans to build the first nuclear fusion power plant connected to a commercial power grid in Chesterfield County. The plant will use a tokamak to generate fusion energy, producing up to 400 megawatts of power. The facility is planned on about 90 acres off Battery Brooke Parkway, near the Interstate 95/State Route 288 interchange. Construction is expected to start later this decade and finish in the early 2030s, pending final approval from the Board of Supervisors. |
