Description

Description

The FC project Community-based resilience promotion in the north of Côte d'Ivoire aims to strengthen the resilience of communities and the population in the north of the country by setting up and expanding basic infrastructure (including water points, health stations and classrooms), accompanied by measures to strengthen social cohesion and child protection. UNICEF is taking on the role of project sponsor - in Côte d'Ivoire (CIV), UNICEF is represented by a regional office in Korhogo in addition to the national office and has a well-founded structure in the north of the country. The north of the CIV is characterized by significant deficits in the provision of basic social services (education, health, water and sanitation). The core problem consists in particular of a complex interplay of (1) the tense security situation in the Sahel region and the associated refugee movements, (2) the high proportion of poor people, (3) the difficulty of accessing basic social services (limited access to education and inadequate water, food and health care), (4) weak economic development, particularly in the target regions of Bounkani (northeast) and Tchologo (north), and in many cases (5) the lack of guaranteed basic rights of children and young people. At the community level, this leads to weakened social cohesion and a high vulnerability to crises. The project aims to strengthen the resilience of communities and citizens in the intervention area, especially children, young people and women, to crises. The aim is to enable reliable access to water, sewage and hygiene services, health care, nutrition and education, among other things.
