Community Development Project

The main objective of the Community Development Project is to provide support to the Government in its post-conflict development efforts aimed at fostering reconciliation among its people, reducing social tensions, and building local social capital. There are four project components. The first component funds community investment projects including preparing and implementing microprojects to rehabilitate small-scale social and economic infrastrucutre, and school heating systems; provides school furniture; finances community social services; and finances small grants programs. The second component builds capacity and provides technical assistance at the microproject level and at the local government level as well as conducts employment surveys to strengthen the local development planning process. The third component supports community outreach, information dissemination, and project impact monitoring and evaluation. The fourth component provides support for the general administration and management of the project; builds the capacity of and provides technical assistance to the project implementation staff; and finances annual technical reviews.
