The FC measure aims to ensure that Indonesian forestry authorities and communities in licensed forest areas apply socially, ecologically and economically sustainable management in order to improve the conditions for the local population to earn a living and to strengthen the ecosystems (FC module objective). The aim is to contribute to the protection of natural habitats and sustainable forest management in Indonesia, thereby sustainably improving the balance of greenhouse gas emissions from the forestry sector and the living conditions of the poor rural population (DC program objective). The FC module, which is designed as an open program, also supports the Indonesian government in its efforts to create 12.7 million hectares of community forest. The implementation of the FC measure is intended to achieve the following outputs (1) The capacities of all relevant stakeholders (such as PSKL, BPSKL, Dinas Kehutanan, Pokja PPS and KPH employees and communities in the field of social forestry) related to social forestry have improved. (2) Financially sustainable and climate-resilient forestry models are being used by local communities. (3) Alignment/coordination of policies relating to social forestry, both within DirJen PSKL and with other agencies involved, has improved. The recipient of the grant is the Indonesian government, represented by the Ministry of Finance (MoF). The project sponsor is the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF). The total cost of the project is currently estimated at around EUR 12.65 million and consists of a grant of EUR 11.50 million and an Indonesian contribution of 10% of the funding volume. The planned duration is 7 years (approx. 2020 - 2026).
