Description | The statistics show big deficits in voluntary units for disaster protection: Bulgaria (0.29 volunteers per 1,000 inhabitants), Romania (6.91); the leading countries such as Austria - 32.47. There still stay the question not only to increase number of volunteers, but also for education of the existing units. The main objective of the project is to increase local capacity in rural areas of Romania-Bulgaria border region (regions of Dolj in Romania, Vidin and Montana in Bulgaria) for disasters’ prevention and mitigation trough development of extended volunteer units and their better preparation, including in a cross-border context. This means to involve in risk management not only existing voluntary units, but also other relevant human resources, available in the target communities, such as for example social and health workers, psychologists, etc. The budget of the project is 294,194.22 euro. Project activates: Promotion of the project in area to attract participation; Research of needs and resources; International meetings of experts; Development of methodical materials; Web-site development; Implementation of 54 training sessions in both countries; Implementation of two joint practical exercises; Closing forum; Publications and publicity; Project management. The main result will be 20 rural communities (municipalities) better prepared for disaster events’ opposition, which means around 64 000 inhabitants better protected and a valuable contribution to the quality of the joint risk management in the CBC area. The result will be achieved through extended the number of potential volunteers with 120 and including in training under joint methodology of 480 representatives of project target groups. |
