Comoros - Project for Water Supply and Sanitation

The Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Project (DWSSP) was designed in support of the will to initiate the development's process of the DWSS sector displayed by the Comorian Government through the Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy (DSCRP). As part of this project, the African Development Bank mobilized a donation for funding. The project is also helping to reduce waterborne diseases by 20% by 2013 and improve the living conditions of women and girls who are responsible for fetching water. The DWSSP comprises four components: (i) the study of the institutional, financial and organizational framework and the development of a strategic plan for 2030; (ii) the development and rehabilitation of water supply and sanitation (DWSS) infrastructure in several localities, including Moroni, Ouani, Mutsamudu, Fomboni and Mbéni; (iii) institutional support and (iv) project management.
