Description

Description

Companhia de Gas do Estado de Mato Grosso do Sul - MSGAS was incorporated on May 1998 ais a joint-stock company with the purpose of distributing and commercializing piped natural gas to Mato Grosso do Sul state. Its shareholding structure was established as a partnership of Mato Grosso do Sul state (51%) and Petrobras Gas S.A. – GASPETRO (49%). In July 1998, the company was granted a 30-year concession contract to develop the state natural gas distribution network. Commercial operations commenced in 2003, and, as of June 2017, the companies network stretched 264-km in length. In December 2015, GASPETRO sold 49% of its shares to the Japanese company Mitsui Gas e Energia do Brasil. In August 2016, a Brazilian judge overturned a preliminary injunction that prevented this selling, authorizing the deal. The new shareholding of MSGAS was established as follows: Mato Grosso do Sul state (51%), Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (25%) and Mitsui Gas e Energia do Brasil (24%).
