Awarded in December 2020 in a privatisation auction, Neoenergia acquired the state-owned company through its subsidiary, Bahia Geração de Energia SA (Bahia PCH III), for R2.515 billion (485 million).Neoenergia beat CPFL and Equatorial, which also bid to acquire the company. Iberdrola’s Neoenergia has issued R2 billion ($369 million) in debentures in the Brazilian capital market to fund the acquisition of Companhia Energetica de Brasilia Distribuição (CEB-D). With a tenor of 17 months, the debentures were registered on 12 February. The papers were priced at the Brazilian intra-banking interest rates DI plus 1.05%.
