Description

Compagas started supplying natural gas in the state of Parana (southern Brazil) in Oct. 1998. It owns a distribution network with 250 KM in length, and it currently serves only industrial consumers. In the future, however, Compagas will be also supplying natural gas to Araucaria Termoeletrica Power Plant and to residential consumers (the first cities to receive natural gas supply will be Curitiba, Ponta Grossa, Palmeira, Balsa Nova, Araucaria, Campo Largo and Sao Jose do Pinhais). Compagas is a joint-venture between the partially privatized electricity utility Copel (51%), Enron's subsidiary Dutopar (24.5%) and the state-owned company Petrobras' subsidiary Gaspetro (24.5%). As of 2005, Enron was in the midst of liquidating its operations and distributing its assets to its creditors. The Brazilian subsidiary of the Japanese giant Mitsui concluded in May 2006 the acquisition of Gaspart from the Enron group, by US$250 million. In the end of 2016, a 49% stake of Gaspetro was sold to the Japanese company Mitsui. As of 2005, Enron was in the midst of liquidating its operations and distributing its assets to its creditors. Companhia Paranaense de Gás é especializada em serviços e distribuição do Gás Natural canalizado no Paraná, cuja concessão estadual foi outorgada em 06/07/94. É uma empresa de economia mista, tendo como acionista majoritária a Copel Participações S.A. com 51%, a Gaspetro posui 24,5% de participação acionária e a Gaspart Ltda é dona dos outros 24,5% das ações.
