Description | The Complete Streets Project aims to build city streets with a lifespan of at least 30 years, prioritising walking, cycling, and public transport while being inclusive for women, children, elderly, and persons with disabilities. Features include wide footpaths, pedestrian crossings, bus stops, seating, ramps, on-street parking, organised street vending, and scaled carriageways with underground ducts for utilities. The project was launched in 2020 under the World Bank Chennai City Partnership Project and is underway at key stretches including MC Road, Royapuram, Race Course Road, Guindy, Tollgate Road, and KNK Road in Nungambakkam. |
