Completion of Galle Maternity Hospital

The module objective is to restore quantitatively and qualitatively appropriate maternity care in line with needs by improving diagnostic and treatment capacities at the Mahamodara Maternity Hospital. This will benefit the population in the Galle district, in the neighboring districts of the Southern Province, and in the neighboring districts of Monaragala and Ratnapura. The project includes the necessary additional infrastructural construction measures and the procurement of equipment to ensure the successful completion and commissioning of the 600-bed maternity hospital at the Karapitya site (financing of the building via a FZ loan BMZ No. 2011 66 206). This includes the procurement and installation of roofing for the inner courtyards / shading for the hospital's outer walls and the installation of the hospital's wastewater treatment plant. In addition, the necessary medical and non-medical equipment (including kitchen, laundry, waste treatment plants) will be procured and installed. Since the contracts of the building contractor and the ventilation system manufacturer are not fully financed within the framework of the above-mentioned FZ loan, final invoices for the contracts already concluded are also to be financed.
