Comprehensive response to a seismic event in the Alps with consequences aggravated by climate change

forthcoming

The EU-ALPEX-2027 exercise will be organised at the very beginning of 2027 to work on the response to the effects of an earthquake in the Alps, which, combined with the effects of climate change on glaciers, could cause major rock and ice collapses, as has been happening more and more in recent years, with enormous consequences that have yet to be fully assessed. The integration of European means in addition to national and cross-border means would bring a superior dimension to the exercise and would allow the deployment of the whole spectrum of Host Nation Support developed in France on the basis of the work carried out over the last two years. Three years before the Winter Olympics in the Alps, this exercise will also provide a high-profile opportunity to test the region's crisis management capabilities.
