Description

Description

Concrete Deeds for the Baltic Sea (CoDe Sea) -VTHPA aims at making people around the Baltic Sea region more aware of their sea being one of the most polluted seas in the world and creating collective action to protect the sea. The project will be carried out by a consortium of nine organisations. Our objective is to organise 20 volunteering teams in six countries around the Baltic Sea: Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Poland and Sweden. In addition, there are three sending organisations involved from Serbia, Greece and Ukraine to ensure volunteers’ diversity, intercultural learning and wider impact of the project. We will involve altogether 200 volunteers out of whom 50 % will be youth with fewer opportunities (YWFO). We will also make special effort to cooperate with local Ukrainian Associations to reach Ukrainians who have moved to Baltic Sea countries due to the war in Ukraine. The project will enable the local citizens to learn more about the Baltic Sea and develop different actions for awareness raising together in intergenerational cooperation with local organisations and people from different backgrounds. The volunteering teams will participate in environmental activities such as organising coastal litter cleanups, info events and workshops. The aim is to encourage people to change their behaviour towards more sustainable choices in areas such as waste management, recycling, and sustainable food. We aim at reaching YWFO having mental, economic, social, geographical, cultural and educational obstacles, including refugees and migrants, Many young people have increasing challenges with their mental wellbeing due to covid-19 isolation, climate anxiety and uncertain future views due to conflicts such as the war in Ukraine. This project combines concrete volunteering work with non-formal learning and concrete tools to give the volunteers a feeling of significance and belonging to a community which will empower them to become active citizens.
