Description

Panamericana solar S.A.C. was created to build, own and operate a 20 MW solar project in the rural Arequipa region of southwestern Peru. In 2011, The project company was a joint venture between 3 sponsors: the Spanish firms Grupo T solar and Solarpack, and the U.S. based Assured guaranty Ltd. The project would sell power to the SEIN grid system and had obtained through tender a 20 year PPA to sell power from the Peruvian Ministry of Mines and Energy. Total project investment was scheduled to be USD 87.3 million,, with the expected project commissioning in 2012. Update: In 2012 the project, along with the Tacna solar facility were purchased by the US firm Conduit Capital partners. Conduit then achieved as USD 185 million loasn form OPIC to finance the project in June 2012. Total project cost was USD 210 million.
