Congestion Cost in the UK

ongoing

The UK faces a significant issue with traffic congestion, costing the country £30 billion a year. This congestion is primarily seen in cities, with drivers spending an average of 32 hours stuck in peak hour traffic annually. Various factors contribute to this congestion, including population levels, personal travel choices, and the demand for goods and services. Building more roads may not be a sustainable solution as it can lead to increased traffic. Alternative measures such as road charging and smart motorway schemes have been proposed to address the issue.
