The CONNECT concept links entrepreneurs, through voluntary efforts by service providers/experts, with the financial, technical and business development resources they need to create and develop high growth companies by performing regional, national and trans-national activities. Connect Baltic Sea Region “CBSR” was approved as an INTERREG III B project in spring 2002. A major objective of the project was to expand and establish Connect organizations and networks throughout the Baltic region, and especially in the Baltic States. The objectives in the Baltic States have been reached, but one major region is still to be included in order to complete an overall Baltic network; the City of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast. This project supports establishment of a Connect St. Petersburg/Northwest Russia with the support of Connect Latvia and development of Connect Latvia by creating a better access and links to the Russian market, research and development and capital. Main activities are setting up a network of experts and members in St. Petersburg supporting a viable Connect St. Petersburg and develop strong Baltic-Russia links for continuous collaboration. This is done by initiating a range of promotion activities in St. Petersburg/Leningrad Oblast region and joint events such as springboards and business cases.
