Description

Description

The project consists in connecting the road relay at km 381 (Relay) to the Hydro-Québec electrical distribution network, which will reduce greenhouse gases by almost 1,472 t CO2eq / year. The energy currently used in the operation of this site comes from generators running on diesel, a fossil fuel. In addition, buildings are heated by oil boilers, which also generate greenhouse gases (GHG). The operation of the relay is crucial and necessary since it is the only road relay on the James Bay road. This 620 km long road serves a population of over 11,000 people including several communities of the Cree nation. The Relais provides users of the James Bay road with catering, accommodation, fuel distribution and mechanical repair services. An emergency first responder service will soon be added to the service offering. This site is also used as a road center for the maintenance of the James Bay road. This project responds to the following fallout: access to more efficient and / or more reliable energy sources. In the Infrastructure section of rural and northern communities.
